Katahdin Stone Works started from a desire to really connect with my projects and my customers. I worked for large and small companies, and no matter what, there was a disconnect between what the homeowner wanted and what we were told to install. All too often, it was cookie cutter and boring. My heart was not in it.
Working directly with the customers was my goal. I wanted to make sure that what I was installing was exactly what they wanted. I wanted to give my customers a space that they felt was their own and not just something to keep up with the Joneses.
I also started Katahdin Stone Works selfishly to take my skills to the next level. I wanted to challenge myself with different aspects of masonry and construction. I wanted to find my niche and make the Katahdin name synonymous with high-quality and meaningful installations.
I wanted to be able to take my knowledge of new-age installation techniques and find new ways to keep the traditional craft alive.
